Responsibilities
The Fire Department responds to all types of fires and other emergencies, as required, 24/7 annually. In addition, the department responds to all motor vehicle accidents and industrial accidents, as required. We provide first responders service to all medical calls inside the city limits. Our total coverage area is 112 square miles in and out of the city limits. Upon the request of the Polk County EMS service, we also respond to medical emergencies outside of Fort Meade.

We are an all volunteer Fire Department made up of 25 members and all work other jobs. However, when a fire call is received we drop what we are doing and respond to the emergency.
Mission
To protect the citizens of the City of Fort Meade and its designated outside protection area. The Fort Meade Fire Department will do the best in our ability and by the safest, most efficient means possible to mitigate all natural and man made disasters with Courage, Pride, Dignity and Professionalism. While performing these duties, we will always put others before ourselves and remain true to the service until the end.
Services Provided/Programs Offered
If you do not have a smoke detector installed in your residence, we would be more than happy to install one, at your request. Please call 863.285.1100, ext. 244 and leave your name, number, and address. Someone will contact you ASAP regarding the installation of the smoke detector.
